The idea of ringing a person or a company looking for money can be a scary prospect, particularly if you have never done it before. I have yet to find a trainee who left school wanting to be a credit controller, so most people simply fall into the role. This one day course is designed to make sure you start off in the right way and with the right approach to both your work colleagues and your customers.
You need to understand the role, what is expected from you and what you should expect from others. Credit can be a difficult department to start out in, because it is the only department in your business that is looking for something from your customers – every other department are looking to see what they can give. Everyone will agree that getting paid from your customers is important, some may be afraid to address the topic of payment with the customers for lots of different reasons. The secret here is to learn how to get paid and keep the customer, anyone can do one or the other, the skill is in doing both!
