What YOU need to know about GDPR
New Data Protection Legislation is coming into force on the 25th May 2018 that will have wide ranging implications for businesses of all sizes not to mention huge fines for non-compliance.
Credit professionals should be the centre of knowledge within their businesses when it comes to what needs to be done and how to do it.
ICMT in association with The Irish Data Protection Institute & Academy are hosting a half day seminar and workshop in The Merrion Hotel, Merrion Street Upper, Dublin 2 on Wednesday 14th March 2018 from 2.00pm to 5.00pm to explain the implications and to provide a practical guide on the necessary standards.
Why Attend?
Credit management is becoming increasingly reliant on data, we place a lot of confidence in the digital, electronic interaction, and the data trail it leaves. We use these to guide and inform our customers and clients, and it drives efficiency and enhances relationships.
The new GDPR regulations are placing certain limits and restrictions on the way credit management, and collection companies, do business. Control is being handed over to the individual, and credit managers may struggle to make well-informed decisions as a result.
Attendees will get a complete insight into what preparations have to be made and the ongoing action required for compliance.
You will return to your office with a clear picture of what needs to be done in terms of data gathering, data storage and data maintenance, down to new requirements on obtaining trade references, sharing information with others and data retention policies.
This is too serious to be left to chance and with just over two months to go, you really must know the extent of your personal responsibilities in this regard.
One of the major changes is that it is no longer sufficient to be compliant – you have to be able to demonstrate that you are compliant.
Article 83.5 states infringements will be subject to fines up to €20,000,000 or up to 4% of the total worldwide annual turnover of the preceding year, whichever is higher.
